Operating as an awarding body within the Diploma

Last updated on: 28/08/2008

Awarding bodies have to meet a number of requirements supporting the operation of the Diploma qualification and the qualifications that contribute to the Diploma. This includes information on what the awarding bodies require of centres to ensure the Diploma can operate effectively.

Operating rules

Recognised component or Diploma awarding bodies with active qualifications in the Diploma catalogue need to meet the regulatory requirements set out in the operating rules (version 2) , published in the Regulatory arrangements for component and Diploma awarding bodies. This document can be downloaded from this page.

Ofqual agreed arrangements with awarding bodies

There are also Ofqual-agreed arrangements to underpin the regulatory framework for the Diploma and support the operation of the Diploma with component and Diploma awarding bodies. These cover:

  • Arrangements for awarding and setting standards in the Diploma. This document is available to download from this page.
  • The Diploma awarding timeline is available to download from this page.
  • There are also other Ofqual agreed arrangements to help ensure a consistent experience for centres in relation to principal learning and the project.  Key information can be downloaded from this page.

Other supporting information

  • There is a range of other supporting information available to awarding bodies operating in the Diploma, including information on delivering the Diploma on both the QCA website and the DCSF website.
  • Also available is guidance on internal assessment produced by the National Assessment Agency (NAA) for awarding bodies looking to offer principal learning and the project. A range of other supporting resources are also available on the NAA website.
