Diploma business modelling Ofqual have been working with QCDA and the Department for Children, Schools and Families to review how the Diploma is delivered from an administrative and accountability point of view. QCDA will be leading on a consultation on Diploma business models, these models will review the existing arrangements against suggested alternatives with a view to secure the most suitable method of qualification delivery.

Revision of the Regulatory arrangements for component and Diploma awarding bodies. Ofqual, in conjunction with stakeholders, are reviewing the Regulatory arrangements for component and Diploma awarding bodies (recognition criteria and operating rules) to work towards publication of version 3 of the document by June 2010. In addition further detail on the regulation of Principal Learning and Project will take place with the addition of both qualifications added to the GCSE, GCE and AEA code of practice. This is due to be published in April 2010.

Revision of the Diploma overarching criteria and subject criteria QCDA are coordinating revision of the Criteria for accreditation of Foundation, Higher and Advanced Diploma qualifications and the Diploma subject criteria for phase 1 and 2 to bring these documents up to date. In addition QCDA are developing the subject criteria for the Advanced Diploma qualification in science. The intention is for Ofqual to adopt these documents in 2010. Diploma: The official student guide to the system is primarily aimed at students and covers the Diploma structure, what examiners and awarding organisations do, how the process works and routes available to students after they finish their Diploma.
